Breast Cancer Awareness '13 Nails

Hola Amigos! Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I thought to do a pink ribbon nail art for today. This is a very important cause. As a female, it's very important to take care of ourselves, by checking on our health. I for one know my chances of getting breast cancer is high. Both sides of my parents, have either one or more family members, who has died or been diagnosed. 

So it's very important to me, to create a this nail art for those are fighting or surviving this cancer. Well the inspiration for these nails is from an illustration artist name Mandy Shrupp. I just fell for this art piece, it was different and unique, which is what I like the most! :) So here it is: 

For the base, I applied two coats of Pop Beauty Black. I really love this polish. The formula is super smooth and quickly dries. Once the polish dries, I wanted to recreate the exact design from the picture. In fact, I wanted to add an ombre look to the design. 

I freehand the patterns with my nail art brush, using Zoya Lo and Zoya Shelby. For the ribbon, I mixed the two polishes together. Once I had the colors I wanted, I then drew the ribbon. 

Then I added a few details with Claw Polish Phantom and sealed it with  Duri- Super Fast Dry Through Top Coat. I love how this tuned out, the affect of the ombre design made it look unique and different.
