Day 1: Bonita Petite Swatch + Red Tribal Nails
Hey everyone! Hope all of you had a wonderful weekend. Well during the weekend, on instagram, I collaborated two more birthday collages. On Saturday these talented ladies and I celebrated Kathy's (from @kt_tk1) b'day by recreating one of her designs. The design I choose was her red tribal nails I wanted to recreate forever. I even thought it would be fitting for today's post, as I will be starting The 31 Day Challenge (schedule photo from Chalkboard Nails). This is actually the first time I'm trying this challenge. Although, I might do it in a slow pace, so I wouldn't conflicted with some blog post I already have. Who knows maybe two post in one day, it all depends, but it's definitely a fun challenge to do! Before I begin, here is a swatch of Bonita Petitie Line called Ohh La La- a gorgeous red shade crelly. Looking at this shade I knew it would fit perfectly for the design I wanted to create. The formula on this polish was fairly good, and was very easy to apply.
Although when applying the first coat it was a bit shear and streaky. However, after a few more coats, the polish was wonderful opaque and leveled. This is three coats sealed with top coat. Now for the design, I applied three coats of Bonita Petite Ohh La La. Once the polish was completely dry, using a stripping brush I freehand the v-shape, with white acrylic paint. Although you can also you white nail polish, I find acrylic paint easier to handle. I then added the lines, and tribal patterns using black acrylic paint.
Lastly, I sealed the design with H K Girl Top Coat. Overall I really loved how these came out. I honestly loved this tribal design! I just couldn't help think how sad it will be to remove them. You can purchase Bonita Salon polishes in Rite Aid stores or from their website for $1.49 a bottle.
