Deborah Lippmann New York Marquee: Fall 2014 Collection

  Hi everyone! Who is ready for some awesomeness! I for one was pleasantly surprised when I received these babies on my doorstep. I think I stared at them after awhile with realization that I have Deborah Lippmann's new, limited edition, 2014 Fall collection. I just couldn't wait to swatches these, and show them to you guys. And heelloooo it is inspired by the of great apple, how amazing can this get! 

The collection is a representation of the lights and New York surroundings. Although, I don't really have many chrome polishes in my stash, so this fairly new to me. I think it is more because chrome polishes always have a bad reputation, and are not favorable because of their application. However, I just can't stop looking are these beautiful colors!

I'll Take Manhattan- Ugh, love this color! It is the perfect teal chrome. I think the picture explains it all. The formula on this polish was super easy to apply. I was even tempted to just leave it alone with one coat. That's how opaque it was! However, I did read on their site, it was recommended at least two...so this is two coats. 

 Lullaby of Broadway- if I ever want to lay in bed on silk bed sheets, this is definitely the color I envision haha! It's soo pretty! It is described as a "bashful blush" more like a rosy pink chrome. The formula is easy to apply, and like the rest of the polishes, opaque with just one coat. Although I did have a minor issue with some visible lines, but that is without top coat. This is two coats. 

12th Street Rag- is a beautiful magenta chrome. The formula is easy to apply, and like the rest of the polishes, opaque with just one coat. Although I did have a minor issue with some visible lines, but no streaks. It could have been my brush strokes or it my base coat. Nonetheless, this is a gorgeous pink and great to look at. This is two coats.

Harlem Nocturne- it is a beautiful indigo chrome, described as "intensified". This would go perfectly with  Autumn In New York and/or 12th Street Rag. The formula on this polish was easy to apply. I was even tempted to just leave it alone with one coat, amazingly opaque! However, as  recommended I applied two coats.

 

Take the "A" Train- is greyish charcoal chrome, described as "polished pewter pleasure". The formula is easy to apply, and like the rest of the polishes, opaque with just one coat. Although I did have a minor issue with some visible lines, but no streaks. It's so edgy, definitely a perfect shade for the fall! This is two coats.

 Autumn In New York- "I looove gold"- Goldmember from Austin Powers 

Seriously I can definitely see Goldmember wear this shade. It is the perfect yellow gold shade. The application was so much better than the others, with no streaks and visible lines. Absolutely my number one favorite! This is two coats. 

As for the nail art, I had several designs I wanted to do, using all of the shades. However, I remember saving a beautiful gold and white pattern on my phone, and had to recreate it using Autumn In New York, as the base. I absolutely loved how these came out. I did find that HK Girl Top Coat was best to use. If you don't Orly Sec n' Dry is great too.

Tempting as it was for me to leave it with just one coat. It is  recommended to apply two coats for better coverage and long lasting wear. I would like to remind everyone I did NOT apply top coat on any of the photos above. That way you all can see the true chrome affect. However, when you do apply top coat, it has a silky chrome finish. 

Now I do not know if all base coats will work perfectly, each depending what you use. However, I did have an issue with mine. Next time I will use imabeautygeek method, she used top coat as the base. And they seem to work perfectly as her swatches looked smooth.

Other than that the colors are absolutely beautiful, and are wonderful to have in your polish collection. It's a little pricey, but well worth, as they are unique '"luxe chrome" and as they individually represent the worlds most amazing city-- "the city that never sleeps".
